The Black Box ServSwitch Fiber KVM Extender II-SM (ACS251A) is a top-notch, single-mode fiber optic KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) extender made to send digital video, keyboard, mouse, and sound waves over up to 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). Engineered for challenging and professional workspaces, it delivers reliable and clear digital connection between a controlling computer (CPU) or a data center and a remote control station, even in loud electromagnetic environments.
The extender uses Duplex single-mode fiber (9/125 µm) to cut down on electrical cable needs, with just a single pair of low-cost fiber optic cables the digitalized serial video/audio signals will be transmitted (with rates up to 1.5Gbps) toward the controlling peripheral devices, after demodulation in remote ACS251A, the mouse and keyboard information will be transmitted back to the CPU unit over the other line of fiber.
Not only are many VGA-compatible video standards supported (such as DOS mode, VGA, XGA, SVGA, and SXGA), but the device can also provide video quality up to 1280×1024 at 75 Hz. Additionally, it supports connection to PS/2 keyboard/mouse, speaker, and monitor. With strong aluminum case and adequate operating temperature range (10 to 40˚C), the II-SM is a great choice for control rooms, data hubs, data centers.
Additionally, a local user station (keyboard, monitor, and mouse) can be connected to the local unit device (CPU side) as an optional feature. This local device switches the keyboard, mouse and video signals and sends them to the remote control station.
